Countering Radicalisation through a Sports intervention
Dear partners and supporters of the Not Just A Game project,
We are excited to share some important updates on our Erasmus+ project “Not Just A Game: Countering Radicalisation through a Sports Intervention “:
We’re excited to launch the Not Just a Game Community of Practice — an online space for youth workers, sports coaches, NGOs, and policy makers! The platform supports networking, access to resources and training, and fast communication when needed. It encourages collaboration to counter violent extremism, promote inclusion, and connect policy with everyday practice. Join us at notjustagamecommunity.eu
The Not Just a Game Project meeting and LTTA meeting took place in Riga, Latvia, from 8–12 September 2025. The aim was to strengthen the skills of youth workers and coaches in preventing radicalisation and promoting inclusion through sport. Participants tested the first three training modules, exchanged experiences, and developed policy recommendations. The event built strong connections, inspired new ideas, and boosted cooperation among partners across Europe.
On 15 October, we hosted the international Online Symposium “Sport is #NotJustAGame: Preventing Youth Radicalisation through Inclusion”, bringing together over 100 youth workers, coaches, educators, and young people from across Europe. The event explored how sport can promote inclusion, teamwork, and resilience while preventing radicalisation. Participants heard inspiring speakers and joined interactive sessions to share good practices and inclusive sport activities. Discussions showed that inclusion grows when youth co-create, and that coaches and youth workers play a key mentoring role in making sport a tool for connection and positive social change and preventing radicalisation.
